The University is situated in the Central Federal District in the capital of the Golden Ring of Russia — Yaroslavl, a city where unique monuments of Russian history and art are still preserved. YSPU named after K.D. Ushinsky is ranked among the leading pedagogical universities together with the universities of Moscow and St. Petersburg. YSPU named after K.D. Ushinsky keeps classical pedagogical traditions alive, closely intertwined with modern innovations in the theory and practice of pedagogical and сlassical education. For the last 10 years YSPU named after K.D. Ushinsky has maintained close ties with the PRC universities and our joint educational programme ‘English language, Chinese language’ has appeared as a result.
Our successful experience of implementing cooperation in the sphere of science and education allowed us to open a new educational programme specially designed for the PRC school-leavers — Musical Culture and Performing Art. With the help of Yaroslavl leading lecturers and performers students will acquire practical and applied knowledge of vocal, choral and instrumental performance. In the sphere of musical training the experience of the leading Russian Conservatories such as St Petersburg State Conservatory named after N.A. Rimsky-Korsakov, Nizhny Novgorod State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka, Kazan State Conservatory named after N.G.Zhiganov, Novosibirsk State Conservatory named after M.I. Glinka will be granted to the students.
Teaching to play the musical instrument — piano — will take place within performing module subjects — ‘Piano’ and ‘Main musical instrument class’. In the course of studies students will master concertmaster’s job, acquire methods of working on instrumental music. Vocal and choral training is realized through disciplines of performance and professional modules — “Choral class and practical work with the choir’, ‘Choral conducting class’, ‘Choral studies, ‘Choral arrangement’, ‘Vocal’. In addition, students will gain expertise in working with children’s choir, in working on voice training for children and adults. Acquiring knowledge in the sphere of vocal and instrumental performance will take place together with students’ participation in ensembles of various kinds and types -vocal and choral, vocal, instrumental, vocal-instrumental.
The most distinctive feature of students’ training will be their participation in performing in concerts — all-Russian and international festivals and competitions, doing their vocal and instrumental practice in the best Yaroslavl cultural and educational establishments. Students enrolling in YSPU to study in a programme Musical Culture and the Art of Performing will be provided with the residence hall of the hotel type for the whole period of studies. Our residence hall located in the historical centre of Yaroslavl will enable us to combine academic training with fascinating and exiting cultural and educational leisure activities. Our of social and cultural adaptation programme for the first-year students is an important characteristic feature of education. In the course of the programme students will be master Russian and get to know best educational and cultural practices of Yaroslavl, learn about history and culture of Yaroslavl and Yaroslavl region.
